Abstract

The reliability of the lubrication system in a Gas Engine Power Plant (GEPP) is influenced by the performance of the lubrication oil separator as a supporting component that maintains lubricant quality. A decline in separator effectiveness can increase failures, downtime, and reduce the overall reliability of the power generation system. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Mitsubishi SJ60H lubrication oil separator at the Seram Peaker GEPP using the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) approach through Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measurement, Six Big Losses analysis, and Pareto diagram analysis. This research employed a descriptive quantitative case study method based on operational and maintenance data collected from December 2023 to July 2024. Equipment effectiveness evaluation was conducted using three OEE parameters: availability, performance rate, and quality rate. The dominant loss factors were identified through Six Big Losses analysis, while Pareto analysis was applied to determine the main causes of performance degradation and to formulate TPM-based improvement strategies. This study contributes to the implementation of TPM evaluation for auxiliary equipment in power generation systems, which remains less explored compared to primary industrial machinery. The results indicate that the average OEE value of the lubrication oil separator was 71.1%, with an availability value of 90.36%, performance rate of 85.6%, and quality rate of 92%. These values are below the world-class OEE benchmark of 85%, indicating that the separator effectiveness has not yet reached an optimal level. The dominant loss factor was identified as reduced speed losses, accounting for 13.14% of total operating time and contributing 40.84% of the total losses, followed by equipment failure losses and defect losses.
