PLAGIARISM POLICY

Jurnal Maneksi (Management Ekonomi Dan Akuntansi)

  1. Policy Statement

Jurnal Maneksi (Management Ekonomi Dan Akuntansi) is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and will be addressed seriously by the editorial team.

All manuscripts submitted to the journal must represent original scholarly work. Authors must properly acknowledge the ideas, words, data, findings, and other materials obtained from previously published or unpublished sources.

This policy applies to all authors and co-authors submitting manuscripts to Jurnal Maneksi.

  1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the act of using another person's words, ideas, data, research findings, images, tables, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment or citation, thereby presenting them as one's own work.

Plagiarism may occur intentionally or unintentionally and includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Direct Plagiarism: Copying text or material from another source without quotation marks or proper attribution.
  2. Mosaic Plagiarism: Combining phrases, sentences, or passages from multiple sources without adequate acknowledgment.
  3. Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Rewriting another author's ideas or arguments without providing an appropriate citation.
  4. Data and Figure Plagiarism: Using another person's data, tables, figures, illustrations, or other research materials without proper attribution or permission where required.
  5. Self-Plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of one's previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment or disclosure.
  6. Source Misrepresentation: Citing sources inaccurately or presenting another researcher's findings as one's own.
  7. Unauthorized Reuse: Reproducing copyrighted material without complying with applicable attribution, licensing, or permission requirements.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources are properly cited and that their manuscripts comply with accepted standards of scholarly integrity.

  1. Similarity Checking

Jurnal Maneksi uses Turnitin originality-checking software to assess textual similarity in submitted manuscripts and, where appropriate, the final versions of articles before publication.

The journal applies a maximum similarity index of 20% for submitted manuscripts.

Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will normally be returned to the authors for correction and resubmission. The editorial team may reject a manuscript if the similarity results reveal substantial unattributed copying or other serious ethical concerns.

A similarity score of 20% or below does not automatically guarantee that a manuscript is free from plagiarism. The editorial team evaluates the similarity report to determine whether matched text consists of properly cited material, references, standard terminology, legitimate quotations, or potentially problematic duplication.

The final decision rests with the editorial team based on the nature, extent, and context of the identified similarities.

  1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to Jurnal Maneksi must:

  1. Ensure that their manuscripts are original and have been prepared in accordance with academic writing standards.
  2. Cite all sources used in developing the research, arguments, analysis, and conclusions.
  3. Use quotation marks and appropriate citations when reproducing text verbatim.
  4. Paraphrase source material accurately and provide appropriate references.
  5. Obtain permission for the reuse of copyrighted materials when required.
  6. Avoid duplicate publication and redundant submission.
  7. Disclose any substantial reuse of their previously published work.
  8. Ensure that all co-authors are aware of and agree to the manuscript submission.
  9. Cooperate with the editorial team in responding to questions concerning similarity reports or suspected plagiarism.

All listed authors share responsibility for the integrity of the submitted manuscript.

  1. Duplicate and Simultaneous Submission

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Maneksi must not have been previously published in substantially the same form or be under consideration by another journal at the same time.

Submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals is considered unacceptable publishing practice.

If duplicate or simultaneous submission is identified during peer review or after publication, the editorial team may reject the manuscript or take appropriate corrective action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

  1. Procedures for Handling Plagiarism

When potential plagiarism is identified, the Editor-in-Chief and editorial team will assess the available evidence and determine the appropriate response.

The process may include:

  1. Reviewing the similarity report and the relevant source materials.
  2. Evaluating the nature and extent of the suspected plagiarism.
  3. Requesting an explanation or clarification from the corresponding author.
  4. Determining whether the issue can be corrected or constitutes serious ethical misconduct.
  5. Communicating the editorial decision to the authors.

The journal aims to handle allegations fairly, consistently, and confidentially.

  1. Actions and Sanctions

The editorial response will depend on the severity, extent, and context of the identified misconduct.

7.1. Minor or Limited Similarity

Where a manuscript contains a small number of improperly cited sentences or limited textual overlap, the journal may:

  • Issue a warning to the author.
  • Request corrections to the text and citations.
  • Require resubmission of the revised manuscript.
  • Conduct another similarity check before proceeding with peer review.

7.2. Substantial Plagiarism

Where substantial portions of another work have been reproduced without proper acknowledgment, the journal may:

  • Reject the manuscript.
  • Prohibit or restrict future submissions from the responsible author(s), where justified under the journal's policies.
  • Notify the relevant institution or other appropriate authority in serious cases.

7.3. Plagiarism Identified After Publication

If plagiarism is established after an article has been published, the journal may issue a correction, publish an expression of concern, retract the article, or take other appropriate action in accordance with publication ethics standards.

The journal will ensure that any post-publication action is appropriately documented.

  1. Editorial Responsibilities

The editorial team is responsible for:

  1. Screening submitted manuscripts for originality.
  2. Evaluating similarity reports fairly and objectively.
  3. Ensuring that allegations of plagiarism are assessed on the basis of relevant evidence.
  4. Providing authors with an opportunity to respond to concerns, where appropriate.
  5. Applying the journal's plagiarism policy consistently.
